Tom Krauß signs for FC

5/28/2026

The newest FC signing is a familar face one. Tom Krauß will remain with FC for the coming years. The 24-year-old midfielder was loan out from 1. FSV Mainz 05 in the past season. After securing safety, a binding option to buy kicked in. Krauß has signed a contract until 2029.

“We are really happy that Tom will also be wearing an FC kit in the future. He is a player that brings a lot of passion, identification and emotion on and off the pitch,” said FC Managing Director, Thomas Kessler. “Especially in the decisive stage of the season, he gave everything for the team and the club despite his knee problems. That says a lot about his character and mentality. Players like that are good for the team. We are convinced that Tom, with his manner and his quality, will be an important part of our squad planning and will help us to reach our shared goals in the Bundesliga.”

The Leipzig-born midfielder went through the academy at Cottaweg before spells with 1. FC Nürnberg, FC Schalke 04, 1. FSV Mainz 05 and VfL Bochum. He also spent six months with Luton Town. Last summer he joined FC on loan and went on to make 27 appearances.

Tom Krauß said: “The most important thing for me was that we managed to stay up. I am incredibly happy and proud that we reached that goal together with the fans and the entire city. I am really looking forward to the new season at FC and will do everything to make sure we stay in the Bundesliga.”
