The midfielder joined 1. FC Köln from Dutch champions FC Twente at the start of the season. Ziemer was born on 16 July 1998 in Santa Rosa, California, USA and played for the USA youth national teams up to U19 level. In college, she played for the Virginia Cavaliers and the Texas A&M Aggies and was twice honoured with the Gatorade Player of the Year Award, which is presented to the best college athletes in California. After moving to Europe, she laced up her football boots for Dutch club ADO Den Haag for one season, played two seasons in Iceland for Breiðablik and one season for FC Twente in the Netherlands. Ziemer has already gained experience in the Champions League with Breiðablik and Twente. She also became Dutch champion with Twente last season, scoring nine times in 20 league games.
