After the signings of Carlotta Wamser and Sara Agrez this week, the first contract extension in the FC squad has also been made. Adriana Achcinska will remain in Köln.
Adriana Achcinska was born on 22nd April 2002 in Luban, Poland. At the age of 16, she joined UKS SMS Lodz and gained valuable experience in the Polish top flight. At Lodz, she finished as runners-up in the league and reached the cup final. In her last season in Poland, Achcinska made 28 appearances, scoring eight goals and setting up a further 10. She then made the move to 1. FC Köln and has since become an important part of the team.
So far, she has made played 33 times in the Bundesliga and featured in five DFB-Pokal fixtures. In the 3:3 draw against SC Freiburg this season, she scored her first goal for the club.
Nicole Bender-Rummler, Head of Women’s Football, said: “When I see the development that Adriana Achcinska has gone through, it touches my heart. As she arrived in Köln in 2021, she had to learn a new language. Since then, she has integrated herself completely, developed on and off the pitch and has a high level of identification with FC. She hasn’t let injury setbacks keep her down, either. Through her strength in the tackle and her unquestionable desire, she gives a calmness to our game. We are pleased that Ada is staying with us.”
Adriana Achcinska said: “1. FC Köln is my first club abroad and I couldn’t have found a better place to be, especially when it comes to the people and atmosphere here. In a way, I want the extension to be a sign of thanks for the past year, which was difficult due to injury problems, and the support that I had from Nicole Bender-Rummler and the entire team. The decision to extend my contract was an easy one.”
