FC beat Swansea

7/24/2024

FC came out firing from the get-go and had three great chances to go ahead. Damion Downs and Sargis Adamyan were denied by Andy Fisher, whilst Julian Pauli’s controlled volley from the edge of the area was cleared off the line.

Gerhard Struber’s side got their reward in the 11th minute for the strong start. Downs found Denis Huseinbasic, who chipped over to Tim Lemperle to hammer home on the half-volley.

Lemperle doubled his and FC’s tally two minutes later. Sargis Adamyan’s through-ball was perfectly weighted and Lemperle stayed calm when faced with Fisher to slot home coolly.

Despite countless chances to extend the lead, it was Swansea who got themselves on the scoresheet just before the break. Matt Grimes’ corner was arrowed towards the near post and Ben Cabango rose highest to head home.

The second period produced little in the way of chances. Steffen Tigges headed over, Florian Dietz fired wide and Julian Pauli, again, saw an effort headed off the line. The excellent first-half was enough to secure the win for FC.

Struber’s side will play their final pre-season fixture on Saturday, 27th July with kick-off against Udinese at 16:00 CEST.
