Anthony Racioppi joins from Hull City
1. FC Köln have signed a new goalkeeper. As number two, Anthony Racioppi has joined from Hull City. The 26-year-old goalkeeper will join on loan until the end of the season and FC have secured an option to buy for the summer.
“Anthony was on our radar during his time in Bern and is a goalkeeper that we have followed intensively. His performances, on national and international level, helped him to come into consideration for the Swiss national team. Due to the unsatisfactory situation at Hull City as well as the departure as Jonas Urbig, we then had the opportunity to sign him. We are pleased that, together with Anthony, we can follow his ambitious goals,” saidThomas Kessler, Director of Football.
“I am pleased about the new challenge at FC, after the last half year wasn’t so easy for me. My role is clear but I am a sportsman – the most important thing is that we enjoy success as a team and I will work hard for that, giving everything and want to develop myself within the goalkeeper team at a big club,” said Anthony Racioppi.
Anthony Racioppi was born on 31st December 1998 in Geneva. The goalkeeper, who will wear the number 26 at FC, went through the academy at Olympique Lyonnais. After his first steps in first-team football, he made the move to FCO Dijon. In his first season, he featured 23 times between the sticks in Ligue 1. In January 2022, he returned to his home country. He was crowned Swiss Champions with Young Boys Bern in 2023 and also qualified for the UEFA Champions League (five appearances). The same year, his performances earned him his first call-up to the Swiss national team. In summer 2024, he made the move to Hull City in the Championship.
