Dimitris Limnios joins Panathinaikos

12/29/2023

1. FC Köln have allowed Dimitris Limnios to leave the club. The 25-year-old Greek international has returned to his home country and will join Panathinaikos.

Thomas Kessler, Head of Football, said: “For Dimi, his situation hasn’t been satisfactory of late, due to his lack of game time. At the same time, the competition for places in the squad means that we couldn’t make that possible. Due to this reason, we’ve found a good solution for both sides. We thank Dimi for his efforts at FC and wish him all the best and much success in the future.”

Dimitris Limnios said: “It is important for me, that I am able to play for my club so that I play myself into contention for the national team. Greece still have a chance to play at the European Championship. I want to help make that happen. I am also looking forward to playing in my home country once again. I want to thank my team, everyone involved and the fans for their support. I have my fingers crossed for FC in the second half of the season, that they can remain in the Bundesliga.”

Dimitris Limnios joined 1. FC Köln in September 2020 from PAOK and made 15 appearances for the club. In the 2021-22 campaign, he spent the season on loan at FC Twente.
