Lotta Cordes extends contract
1. FC Köln have extended the contract of midfielder Lotta Cordes. The 22-year-old has signed a new deal until 30th June 2025.
Lotta Cordes was born on 27th April 2001 in Nienburg an der Weser. The midfielder came through the academy at VfL Wolfsburg and was part of the under-17 side that won the German Championship in 2018. In the final and the 4:1 win against FC, she scored two goals.
At Wolfsburg, she made the step up to the first-team for the 2020-21 season and won the DFB-Pokal. A year later, she won the double as Wolfsburg were crowned Bundesliga champions and defended their DFB-Pokal title. Cordes also featured in the Champions League for the Wolves.
In the national team, she featured for the under-19s and under-20s. After FC secured their place in the Bundesliga for the 2022-23 season, Cordes was the first new signing to be announced. She has made 31 Bundesliga appearances, featured nine times in the DFB-Pokal and played four Champions League matches.
Cordes is the third FC player to extend her contract this month, following on from Adriana Achcińska and Celina Degen.
Nicole Bender-Rummler, Head of Women’s Football, said: “Lotta Cordes is strong in the tackle and has good vision. She is a role model on and off the pitch as a real team player and are really pleased that she will be with us in the coming season and be a pillar of our game.”
Lotta Cordes said: “I have fallen in love with FC and I can’t imagine being at a better club, personally. It is great to experience how the surroundings and environment around our team have improved in the last 18 months. I am very thankful for that and I’m looking forward to continuing down that path and helping my team.”
