1. FC Köln and VfL Wolfsburg have reached an agreement. Luca Waldschmidt will remain in Köln.
FC Managing Director, Christian Keller said: “We are very happy that Luca will now be a part of our squad on a permanent basis after his loan. His first year at FC wasn’t easy due to a range of different factors, especially with his broken leg in Winter. For that reason, we are now looking forward together. Luca has footballing quality that can give impulses to our game in the final third. We are convinced that he will be able to show that quality on a more consistent basis next season.”
Luca Waldschmidt said: “Since my first day at FC, my identification and connection to the club and city was huge. To head into the 2. Bundesliga with FC is a conscious decision. I want to be successful with FC and that the path leads to where the club and fans belong – in the Bundesliga. I’ll give 111% for that.”
