Maina: “Made life difficult for ourselves”

He set-up the first goal thanks to his corner, scored the second himself and was a constant threat throughout the game. Linton Maina was a real thorn in the side for SV Sandhausen on Sunday afternoon.

After being forced into extra-time after leading 2:0, even after progressing into the next round, was viewed as unnecessary: “We should have put the game to bed a lot earlier. That was the case in the past two games, where we made life difficult for ourselves.”

The fact that FC made it into the second round was a show of desire: “You could see that there wasn’t much left in the tank, for both sides.” Maina said: “That was clear from our pre-season, where we did a lot of running. Everyone, even when they couldn’t go any more, went over and above today.”
