Sara Agrež joins FC

1. FC Köln have signed Sara Agrež from VfL Wolfsburg. The 23-year-old centre-back is a Slovenian international and has signed a deal through to 30th June 2026 with FC. Agrež is the second signing of the January transfer window, following on from Carlotta Wamser’s arrival.

Sara Agrež was born on 9th December 2000 in Celje, Slovenia. Agrež played forŽNK Radomlje Celje, Rudar Škale, Radomlje and Pomurje Beltinci in her home country before leaving Slovenian champions Beltinci for Bundesliga side, 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam. She spent three years in Potsdam and was also captain during her time there, despite being so young. Agrež then moved to VfL Wolfsburg, where she won the DFB-Pokal der Frauen in 2023.

Agrež has made 52 appearances in the Bundesliga so far, scoring four goals. She also featured in the UEFA Women’s Champions League for Wolfsburg last season.

Nicole Bender-Rummler, Head of Women’s Football, said: “We are really pleased that we could bring Sara Agrež to FC, she is a player who will strengthen our defence with her qualities. She is comfortable on the ball, strong in the tackle, quick and can read the game well.”

Sara Agrež said: “1. FC Köln is a great club that I’ve followed for a while. I am really looking forward to wearing the FC kit for the very first time and especially for the game against Werder Bremen in the RheinEnergieSTADION. I like Köln a lot and I am sure that I will feel at home here in the city and at this emotionally charged club.”
