Struber’s opinion on opening day defeat
FC head coach, Gerhard Struber had his say on the opening day 2:1 defeat to Hamburger SV. Struber was straight into the analysis and looked at what went well and what could have gone better.
“We invested a lot and should have went ahead early on. From my point of view, there was more to be had from the game today. We did a lot of things very well and in a few moments, we didn’t execute the plan that we had. It’s a bitter defeat,” explained Struber. The coach took two decisive factors from the game: “We have to be more clinical and use our chances. We saw today, that you have to be alert for 90 minutes and not make a mistake.”
Away from matters on the pitch, the FC fans left a lasting impression on Struber. “The atmosphere in the stadium is simply breathtaking. What went on just before kick-off was one-of-a-kind and extremely emotional,” said the Austrian after his first game as FC head coach.
