Davie Selke was born close to Stuttgart and began his footballing career at both sides in the city. He started off with Suttgarter Kickers before joining VfB Stuttgart. He then spent three years in TSG Hoffenheim's youth academy before joining Werder Bremen in January 2013. He made his Bundesliga debut as an 18-year-old in the 2013-14 season. In summer 2015, he moved to Leipzig and helped them to promotion in the Bundesliga as their top goalscorer. In the 2017-18 season, he joined Hertha BSC before returning to Werder for 18 months on loan.
In January 2023, Selke joined 1. FC Köln and, in the summer, extended his contract until 2026.
