Dejan Ljubicic came through the youth academy at Rapid Wien and represented his country from the under-17s onwards. In the 2017-18 campaign, he went on loan to 1. Wiener Neustädter SC. After his return, he quickly made a name as a first-team player. Overall, he made 126 appearances for Rapid, scoring eight goals and setting up a further 10.
For the 2021-22 season, FC signed the Austrian international on a free transfer. Before he made the move to Köln, he completed two months of military service for his country. His goal against Borussia Mönchengladbach in April 2022 is Ljubicic's favourite strike for the club.
