Max Finkgräfe moved to 1. FC Köln in 2021 from SG Unterrath. With the under-19s and coach Stefan Ruthenbeck, Finkgräfe won the DFB-Pokal der Junioren in 2023 against FC Schalke 04. For the 2023-24 season, Finkgräfe moved up to the first-team squad. In 2017, Finkgräfe was a ballboy for Borussia Dortmund. Six years later, he would make his Bundesliga debut in the very same stadium.
