The Pfläzer-born joined 1. FC Köln from 1. FC Kaiserslautern in 2015. With his family and his Australian Shepherd Mogli, Dominique Heintz was with FC for three years. He left following relegation in 2018, joining SC Freiburg before moving to 1. FC Union Berlin and spending time on loan at VfL Bochum. After five years away, Heintzi returned to Geißbockheim in summer 2023 with his family. His first game after his return marked his 200th Bundesliga appearance.
