Elias Bakatukanda joined 1. FC Köln from SC Weiler-Volkhoven and made his way through the FC youth academy from the under-9s. In the 2022-23 season, the centre-back helped Stefan Ruthenbeck's under-19s to reach the semi-finals of the German Championship and to win the DFB-Pokal. He was also called up to the Germany under-19s. On his 19th birthday, 13th April 2023, the defender signed his first professional deal with FC.
